Smith MD is a Professor of Urology and the Director of Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and graduated AOA from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed her surgery internship and urology residency at the University of Pennsylvania and her fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at University of California, Los Angeles. She is extensively trained in all surgical approaches for the treatment of pelvic floor disorders including vaginal, open, endoscopic, and robotic surgery. Dr. Smith is funded by the National Institute of Health for research on bladder health and pelvic floor disorders. Dr. Smith has authored over 100 manuscripts and book chapters. Her professional focus has been on comprehensive treatment options for a variety of pelvic floor conditions including prolapse, incontinence, urinary tract fistula, neurogenic bladder and mesh complications. Dr. Smith is board certified in both Urology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
