Matthew J Resnick MD, MPH, MMHC
Assistant Professor of Urologic Surgery and Health Policy, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville TNDr. Resnick is currently Assistant Professor of Urologic Surgery and Health Policy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania where he completed his residency training. Dr. Resnick subsequently served as a clinical fellow in urologic oncology and a Veterans Affairs National Quality Scholar at the Tennessee Valley VA Health Care System and Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he subsequently received masters degrees in public health and health care management. Dr. Resnick maintains an active clinical practice in genitourinary oncology.
Dr. Resnick’s research program is centered around the effects of payment reform with respect to the appropriateness and intensity of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. He is actively investigating the implications of Medicare ACO enrollment on appropriateness of cancer screening to determine the net effect of shared savings and quality measurement on the delivery of recommended and discretionary health care services. Furthermore, Dr. Resnick is interested prostate cancer comparative effectiveness research and has published extensively on these topics. His research is currently funded by the American Cancer Society, the Urology Care Foundation, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
