Ying Xian MD, PhD, FAHA

Assistant Professor of Neurology and Medicine, Duke Clinical Research Institute, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC

Dr. Xian is an Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Department of Neurology and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at the Duke University Medical Center and Duke Clinical Research Institute. He received his Medical Degree from Beijing Medical University (Peking University Health Science Center) and completed his residency at Fuwai Hospital, Peking Union Medical College, and Peking University People’s Hospital. Dr. Xian’s research is dedicated to improving health care quality and outcomes in patients with cardiovascular disease and stroke. He is the principle investigator of two American Heart Association (AHA) grants to study the safety and clinical effectiveness of tissue plasminogen activator in stroke and the ARAMIS Registry of stroke patients on non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants. Dr. Xian participates on multiple national committees such as the AHA’s Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) Quality Improvement Subcommittee, Stroke Council’s Quality and Outcomes Committee, Quality of Care and Outcomes Research (QCOR) Council’s Young Clinicians & Investigators Committee, and GWTG-Stroke Clinical Work Group. Dr. Xian has more than 70 published articles in high-tier journals and has been recognized for his research through the AHA QCOR Young Investigator Award and the Northwestern Junior Faculty Clinical Research Award.
