Wiesje Pelkmans MSc

Wiesje Pelkmans obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Research Master’s degree in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. After completing her studies, she worked as a research assistant on the Alzheimer’s biomarkers in daily practice (ABIDE) project at the Alzheimer Center Amsterdam. In her PhD project, supervised by Prof. Wiesje van der Flier, Prof. Frederik Barkhof, and Dr. Betty Tijms, she focusses on neuroimaging measures in Alzheimer’s disease, to improve our understanding of the earliest changes in Alzheimer’s disease and predict future cognitive decline. In 2020 she visited Lund University, Sweden to perform research on the BioFINDER cohort. The defense of her PhD thesis from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is scheduled by the end of 2021.
