Veronica J. Peschansky MD, PhD
Assistant Professor, Department of Neurology, University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, Worcester, MassachusettsDr. Veronica Peschansky is an Assistant Professor of Neurology, division of Neurocritical Care, at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. She also serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging for the department, and is a co-Leader of the Global Health and Advocacy Track for Neurology Residency Program.
Dr. Peschansky began her career with research in neurodevelopmental disorders and epigenetics, focusing her graduate studies on outlining the function of noncoding RNA transcripts at the Fragile X locus. After entering the critical care field, she conducted a study on the epigenetic markers associated with sepsis in critically ill patients, and is interested in better understanding the epigenetic signatures underlying coma and other disorders of consciousness. In the meantime, she is involved with collaborative work examining the effects of neurological ICU-based care and complications on outcomes in moderate to severe traumatic brain injury, as well as a project developing tools to improve shared decision-making for families of patients with severe acute brain injury.
Dr. Peschansky earned both her medical and graduate doctoral degrees at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, followed by Neurology residency training at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine and Neurocritical Care fellowship at the joint program of New York-Presbyterian at Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medicine.
