Harvey, MD, MPH, serves as co-Director of the Hampton University Skin of Color Research Institute and is the Division Director of the Hampton Roads Center for Dermatology at Tidewater Physician Multispecialty Group in Newport News, Virginia. Dr. Harvey’s research areas of interests include skin disorders which disproportionately burden patients with skin of color including pigmentary disorders and disparities in melanoma outcomes. Dr. Harvey has conducted numerous research studies examining various facets of health disparities including investigating the role of race concordance on dermatologic care and identifying the contextual determinants of late stage melanoma diagnosis.
Dr. Harvey serves on numerous national boards and committees for the American Academy of Dermatology and the Skin of Color Society. She is President for the Virginia Dermatology Society and President-Elect of the Skin of Color Society.
