Tsutomu Yasukawa, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Nagoya City University Graduate School of Medical Sciences in Japan. Dr. Yasukawa is interested in the development of drug delivery systems involving: controlled drug release from implantable devices and microspheres; and drug targeting. Dr. Yasukawa is also interested in the pathogenesis of age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Yasukawa developed a rabbit lipofuscin accumulation model and a 3-dimensional spheroid culture of retinal pigment epithelial cells.
