Dr. Thomas Fandel is a PGY-2 resident in the Internal Medicine residency program at Greenwich Hospital. He graduated from Aachen University Medical School in Germany and initially trained in Urology at Mainz University in Germany, before coming to the University of California in San Francisco for a research fellowship. His research at UCSF focused on strategies to support recovery of urologic and neurologic function after injuries to the peripheral and central nervous system. Dr. Fandel’s research interest has shifted to studying options to improve management of diabetes in hospitalized patients by resident-led initiatives. Dr. Fandel has co-authored 39 original publications, including first author publication in Cell Stem Cell.
