Theresa Nguyen Wenker, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and a Staff Physician at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine as part of the American Board of Internal Medicine Research Pathway, an integrated program that allowed for three uninterrupted years of research training. During that time, she obtained her Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology with a Certificate in Data Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health. She also completed additional fellowship training with the Big Data-Scientist Training Enhancement Program, a collaboration by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Cancer Institute. She is board certified in Medicine and Gastroenterology. Her research interests are in decreasing the burden of GI cancers, including Barrett's esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma.
