Tetsu Ohnuma MD, PhD, MPH
Assistant Professor, Critical Care and Perioperative Population Health Research (CAPER) Program, Division of Critical Care Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, North CarolinaDr. Ohnuma is presently an Assistant Professor in the department of Anesthesiology at Duke University. He received his PhD degree in Tokyo Medical and Dental University in Health Policy and Informatics in 2020. He received his Master of Public Health degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in epidemiology in 2018. He also received his MD degree from Gunma University in 2006. He is an intensivist who is board-certified in the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine and Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine. His main research areas are epidemiology, critical care medicine, and pain management.
Dr. Ohnuma’s work at Duke focused on multimodal analgesia after surgery and gabapentinoids using a large billing data called Premier. Recently, Dr. Ohnuma as a principal investigator has initiated a number of research projects to investigate antibiotic management and outcomes in sepsis. He has awarded the Dream Innovation Grant. Dr. Ohnuma has authored more than 70 publications, and his research has been published in highly esteemed journals, such as JAMA Network Open and Critical Care Medicine. He has also presented his work at conferences around the world. For example, Dr. Ohnuma Received Kosaka Best of Meeting Abstract Award at the International Anesthesiology Research Society 2019 Annual Meeting.
