Professor and Chief and Marcos Lin Andrade Endowed Chair, Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition, Department of Internal Medicine, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KentuckyTerrence Barrett, MD, trained at University of Chicago where he completed Gastroenterology and postdoctoral basic immunology fellowships. After moving to Northwestern University, he rose to the rank of tenured professor prior to moving to the University of Kentucky where he is now Chief of Digestive Disease and Nutrition. Over the past 30 years he committed his clinical time to the care of complex inflammatory bowel disease patients. His lab (NIH, VA and CCF-funded) studies mucosal T cell immunology, epithelia stem cell biology and metabolic regulation of mucosal ulcer healing. Throughout his career he served on study sections at the NIH and Crohn’s and colitis foundation.
