King, M.D. is the Deputy Chief and Director of Research for the Breast Service in the Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the incumbent of the Jeanne A. Petrek Junior Faculty Chair and an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Weill Medical College of Cornell, New York. She received her MD degree in 1996 from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and completed her surgical residency at the Ochsner Clinic, in New Orleans in 2001. Following a 2 year breast surgery fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center she joined the MSKCC faculty in 2003. Her clinical expertise is in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast cancer. Dr. King is also the PI of the Breast Surgery Research Laboratory at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and has received several awards including the SSO Clinical Investigator Award in Breast Cancer Research (2008), a Career Catalyst Award (2009) and an Investigator Initiated Research Award (2012) from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation to support her work on molecular predictors of the development of invasive carcinoma in patients with lobular carcinoma in situ. Dr. King is also the PI of a multi-institutional prospective trial investigating the role of surgery in Stage IV breast cancer sponsored by the Translational Breast Cancer Research Consortium.
