Biographical Sketch:

Dr. Edmundowicz is a Past President and Master of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He has served on the ASGE Governing Board as a councilor from 2010-2013; as Treasurer-elect from 2013 to 2014; as Treasurer from 2014 to 2017; and as President-elect from 2017 to 2018 and President 2018-2019. He also served as Trustee of the ASGE Foundation from 2014 to 2018. He is currently a councilor on the Governing Board until May 2021.

Dr. Edmundowicz is a Professor of Medicine and the Interim Division Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, Colorado. He is also the Medical Director of the Digestive Health Center at the University of Colorado Hospital. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed residency training in internal medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he also completed his fellowship in gastroenterology. He has held leadership positions in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy at Washington University School of Medicine, Jefferson Medical College, Allegheny University of the Health Sciences, and the University of Colorado.

He remains active in clinical practice, clinical investigation, teaching, and administration. He has participated in numerous clinical trials in endoscopy, ERCP, and endoscopic ultrasound. Most recently, he has been involved with trials of innovative endoscopic devices for use in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease and morbid obesity. Dr. Edmundowicz’s clinical research focus involves the study and application of new technologies in endoscopy.

In addition to his other responsibilities, he has served as associate editor for ASGE News, and he was past senior associate editor of ASGE’s peer-reviewed journal, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
