Sriram Machineni MD
Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism, Albert Einstein College of Medicine; Director of Fleischer Institute Medical Weight Center, Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New YorkDr. Machineni is an Obesity Medicine specialist at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and the founding director of Fleischer Institute Medical Weight Center. The Medical Weight Center founded by Dr. Machineni provides much-needed clinical management services for obesity at Montefiore Medical Center, recruits for clinical drug trials and other clinical research studies in obesity. He specializes in treatment of obesity and has expertise in obesity pharmacotherapy. His research focus is the study of mechanisms of energy regulation in response to nutrients and obesity surgery. His teaching interests include the development of tools and approaches for the treatment of obesity in the primary care setting.
Dr. Machineni received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and completed his residency in Internal Medicine from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He trained in clinical research at the New York Obesity and Nutrition Research Center in New York City and pursued a clinical and research fellowship in Obesity Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He served as a faculty for the MGH Obesity Metabolism and Nutrition Institute (OMNI) and as a Co-Director of the Blackburn Course in Obesity Medicine: Treating Obesity and the Obesity Medicine Board Review Course. He was the founding director of the University of North Carolina’s Medical Weight Program before taking a position with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
