Sonja Rutten MD, PhD

Psychiatrist and Researcher, Center for Soma & Psyche, Amsterdam University Medical Centers, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Sonja Rutten started her residency in Psychiatry in 2009, combining this with PhD research at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam since 2012. During this period, she also finished a postdoctoral Master in Epidemiology at EpidM (2016). In 2019, she defended her thesis, titled “Shedding light on depressive, anxiety and sleep disorders in Parkinson’s disease”.

Currently she works as a psychiatrist and researcher at the ‘Center for Soma & Psyche’ at Amsterdam UMC, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, focusing both her clinical work and research on patients with neuropsychiatric disorders, including patients with Parkinson’s disease and functional neurological disorder. She is also a member of the medical ethics committee of the VU medical center.
