M.Sc in (Optometry & Vision Sciences). He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Laws and Intellectual Property Rights from CDVL, University of Hyderabad and a Clinical Optometry internship from LVPEI-Hyderabad. His PhD thesis focuses on the Problem of colour vision and its relationship to culture, cognition, and quality of life, which received the best PhD Thesis- Prof.Krothapalli Ravindranath Gold medal from the University of Hyderabad.
After completing my PhD, Dr. Shiva Joined as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on NIH- funded projects at the world's prestigious Harvard Medical School, Schepens Eye Research Institute-MEEI under Dr. Alex Bowers at Vision Rehabilitation Lab in Boston, MA, USA.
He also received prestigious fellowships i.e., International Color Vision Society- Summer School Fellowship in (Aug - 2023) at Pembroke College, Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford, ARVO- foundation Global Mentorship under Padmashree. Prof. Dr Natarajan Sundaram in Retinal diseases in Dec-2022 and a Developing country fellowship-ARVO foundation, USA in Jan-2022 and Indian Academy of Science (IASC – INSA – NASI) - Summer Research Fellowship, (July - 2018) in Neurobiology at Swami Rama Himalayan University, Jolly Grant, Dehradun.
He is a working researcher who has published 30 above international peer-reviewed research articles, 2 book chapters, one systematic review and meta-analysis, and 1- International health policy paper to his credit in optometry and Health sciences.
He also holds a copyright registration and design patent from the Indian Patent Office- Chennai for the RISHIVA colour pulse illusion. He has won various national and international prizes in the fields of optometry and vision sciences and presented research work at ARVO, VSS and ECVP conferences.
His major areas of research interest are visual psychophysics, vision rehabilitation, retinal forensics, retinal and macular diseases, community and public health approaches to eye care, colour vision deficiency, colour cognition and Aesthetic Optometry.
