Dr. Shihab Hameed is a Senior Staff Specialist Pediatric Endocrinologist at Sydney Children’s Hospital, and Royal North Shore Hospitals in Sydney, Australia as well as a Senior Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Dr. Hameed has a special research interest in the diagnosis and management of cystic fibrosis related diabetes (CFRD). He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in 2017 on “Monogenic and Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes in Childhood”, and is a co-author of the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes Guidelines on the Management of cystic fibrosis-related diabetes in children and adolescents. He is a chief investigator in the CF-IDEA trial (Cystic Fibrosis – Insulin Deficiency, Early Action, clinicaltrials.gov NCT01100892) a randomized controlled trial of once-daily insulin treatment in children and adolescents with early insulin deficiency. He also has a strong interest in diabetes technologies, including continuous glucose monitoring.
