Downie, PhD, is Professor of Anatomy and Structural Biology and Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. In her role as Director of the Clinical & Developmental Anatomy course and the Anatomical Donation program, Dr. Downie oversees anatomical education for first-year medical students, MD/PhD students, and fourth-year elective students, and she runs the graduate anatomy review courses for multiple residency programs at Einstein and Montefiore Medical Center. In addition to Clinical Anatomy, she teaches Medical Histology for first-year medical students and kinesiology and functional anatomy for rehabilitation residents. Dr. Downie has been on faculty at Einstein since 2000.
Dr. Downie’s areas of special interest include musculoskeletal anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanics especially as related to movement disorders and spasticity. She is a consultant, educator and co-author in these fields. Dr. Downie also publishes on human anatomical variation, medical education and the anatomical basis for development of procedures.
