Sherif Mourad is Professor of Urology at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, Professor of Urology at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt – Subspecialty in Neurourology and Urogynecology. He obtained his MD thesis at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. With special interest in Lower Urinary Tract Disease, Overactive Bladder, Female Urology, and Neurostimulation. Professor Mourad is the Chairman of Board of Katameya Clinic for Medical Services and Katameya Clinic Hospitals.
Professor Mourad just finished his term as the General Secretary of the International Continence Society (ICS) based in Bristol – United Kingdom, and he is currently the Chair of the ICS Developing World Committee and on the Global Philanthropic Committee for the support of Developing World.
He is Founder and President of the Pan Arab Continence Society and African Fistula and Continence Society.
Professor Mourad is the Board Director of the Egyptian Urological Guidelines 2019 - 2022. He is Director and Tutor for the Bristol Urological Institute’s Middle East Courses and a Former Board Member of the Egyptian Urological Association (EUA).
Professor Mourad was on the scientific committee of the Societe International de Urologie (SIU) 2017 – 2018 – 2019. He is a Member the Taskforce of pelvic Floor Reconstruction of the FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics).
He is the director of the ICS workshops for Surgery of Vaginal Fistula. To achieve the goals of these workshops he exerts a lot of efforts to secure donations from charitable societies mainly the International Continence Society, the Pan Arab Continence Society, and the Global Philanthropic Committee.
Currently he is conducting surgical and educational humanitarian missions in developing countries in Africa and Asia helping in the treatment of all kinds of Obstetric and Gynecologic Fistulae including perineal tears and both urinary and fecal incontinence and training the local doctors how to manage the possible complications.
Since 2009, Professor Mourad and his team visited many countries in Africa like Niger, Uganda (5 times), Somalia land, Sudan (4 times) and Upper Egypt (3 times). During each mission they used to perform around 30- 40 fistula and other incontinence surgeries along 4-5 days beside the treatment of complicated cases including surgeries of diversion or augmentation cystoplasties. This was also accompanied by an awareness campaign to the doctors, nurses, and patients in each country. In Asia, Sherif helped many patients by performing repair surgeries in China, Iran, Turkey and lately in Oman.
He conducted many cadaveric courses for the surgical repair of fistulas and his passion for training was greatly appreciated by many trainees in Egypt (Cairo), Turkey (Istanbul- Ankara – Izmir) , Greece (Thessaloniki), UK (London - Bristol) and USA (Arkansas).
Professor Mourad is also conducting a well-established training course of Urogynecology in Egypt and receiving trainees of urologists and gynecologists from many countries.
He is on the Editorial Board of Neurourology and Urodynamics Journal, and is a reviewer for the Journal of Urology, the British Journal of Urology, International Urogynecology Journal, Neurourology and Urodynamics Journal, Advances in Urology, Urologia Internationalis, and several regional journals.
Professor Mourad is a Guest Speaker, Chairman and Moderator in many regional (Arab) and International events including Asian, European and American scientific meetings, and is an active member of the AUA, EAU, ICS, ICI, SIU, IUGA, FIGO, ICUD, AFFCS, ISOFS ISSM, EUA, AAU and others.
