Dr. Gulati is the Professor and Chief of the Child Neurology Division in the Department of Pediatrics of AlIMS in New Delhi. She was part of the team to start DM (Pediatric Neurology program) for the first time in S-E Asia in 2004. 

Dr. Gulati's areas of interest are developmental disabilities including autism & cerebral palsy; Multidisciplinary rehabilitation & Public health dimension, neurometabolic disorders, neurogenetics, neurocysticercosis, febrile convulsions, epilepsy, status epilepticus, dietary therapies in intractable epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, electrophysiology and stem cells.

She received the Sheila Wallace Award by International Child Neurology Association in 2014 and is a member of the National Advisory Board and the Indian Rett Syndrome Foundation. She has served as an editorial board member for 5 publications, a review editor, lead guest editor, and has been a reviewer for 26 journals. She also visits faculty for Post Graduate Diploma in Developmental Neurology, Thiruvanthapuram.

Dr. Gulati has participated in 210 research publications in various international and national journals; assisted in editing a book; edited 66 chapters in books; edited 223 abstracts; edited 41 learning resource materials.

She holds memberships to 18 professional bodies, including various international societies.
