Dr. Berkowitz was a general internist and primary care doctor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Diabetes Population Health Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. His major research interest is improving the prevention and treatment of chronic disease by addressing adverse social determinants of health, particularly related to food and nutrition. He is now Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Medicine & Clinical Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
