Researcher, Molecular Epidemiology and Science for Life Laboratory at Department of Medical Sciences, Uppsala University, Sweden

Dr. Sergi Sayols‐Baixeras, a researcher in the Molecular Epidemiology Group at Uppsala University, currently holds a position as a bioinformatician at the Swedish Infrastructure for Medical Population‐Based Life‐Course and Environmental Research (SIMPLER) within the same institution. His research uses traditional epidemiological methods, as well as large‐scale omics data to advance our understanding of cardiovascular diseases, associated phenotypes, and identify novel biomarkers.

In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded with the Young Investigator of the Year in 2021 by the Catalan Biology Society, and he received the Extraordinary Prize for the Best PhD Thesis within the Biomedicine program at Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Beyond his research, Dr. Sayols‐Baixeras shares his expertise as a course instructor for Omics Data Analysis in the MSc in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics program at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. His commitment to both research and education underscores his dedication to advancing the fields of cardiovascular epidemiology.
