Dr. Samir Malkani is a Professor of Medicine and the Clinical Chief of Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Dr. Malkani’s clinical interest is in the management of diabetes and its complications. His special interests are in the use of technology in diabetes management, and population health as it pertains to diabetes. His research interest is clinical trials on the management of diabetes and its complications. He has been an investigator in cardiovascular outcomes trials, drug trials pertaining to management of diabetes and its complications, and trials related to the use of technology in diabetes. Currently he is working on developing more effective models of care delivery to those living with diabetes, especially those which unfavorable social determinants of health.

Dr. Malkani is the director of the Flexible Clinical Experiences Course at the UMass Chan Medical School. This is a course for third year medical students that provides the opportunity for weeklong electives to explore career options and work with experts in cutting edge aspects of medicine and healthcare.
