Robert B. Diasio MD

Mayo Professor; Director Emeritus, Mayo Clinic Cancer Center; Professor of Molecular Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics and Oncology; Consultant, College of Medicine, Rochester, MinnesotaDr. Diasio received his medical degree from Yale University School of medicine, followed by residency training in internal medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, and then oncology and clinical pharmacology training at the National Cancer Institute. After 4 decades in academic oncology and pharmacology, he recently became Director and Professor Emeritus, in the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center and the Departments of Molecular Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics, and Oncology at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Diasio has published extensively with chapters in major textbooks as well as original research manuscripts. He has had a long-time interest in 5-Fluorouracil pharmacology and helped characterize the pharmacogenetic syndrome of dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) deficiency.
