Dr. Rena Yadlapati is Director of the Center for Esophageal Diseases and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Yadlapati completed her residency at UCLA and GI fellowship as well as a clinical and T32 research fellowship in esophageal physiology at the Northwestern University.  She also holds a Master of Science in health services and outcomes research from Northwestern.

As an esophagologist, Dr. Yadlapati cares for GERD, esophageal motor disorders, and eosinophilic esophagitis, and has expertise in interpretation of esophageal physiologic testing including high-resolution esophageal manometry, reflux monitoring, and functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP). Dr. Yadlapati is the first author of the Chicago Classification version 4.0 of esophageal motor disorders, a co-author of national guidelines for achalasia and esophageal physiologic testing and serves on the board of directors of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Institute. Dr. Yadlapati is an active NIH funded researcher, and has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed publications.
