Dr. Mehra is a physician scientist, Professor of Medicine of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University and internationally recognized for expertise in sleep disorders and health outcomes including cardiopulmonary disease. She holds joint appointments in the Neurologic, Respiratory, Heart and Vascular and Lerner Research Institutes. Dr. Mehra is a board-certified pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine specialist with advanced training in Sleep Medicine Neurobiology and Epidemiology via an NIH T32 National Research Service Award acquiring a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology. She is Director of the Cleveland Clinic Sleep Disorders Research program since 2013 focused on team science and big data to knowledge initiatives. She has held leadership roles in national societies including American Thoracic Society (ATS) and American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), served as a standing member on NIH study section, Chair of Department of Defense study sections, Co-Chair of the 2020 NIH/NHLBI Autonomic Nervous System Cardiopulmonary Interactions workshop, Chair of the 2021 American Heart Association (AHA) statement on sleep apnea and cardiac arrhythmia (inaugural statement), 2021-2023 Chair of the ATS Sleep Respiratory Neurobiology Assembly, 2021 Co-Chair of Sleep and Circadian Rhythm in COVID-19 Workshop, served as Associate Editor (AE) of the journal CHEST (Impact Factor (IF)=9.7) and most recently serves as AE for the Blue journal (IF=30.5). She has mentored ~40 trainees many of whom have received national and career development awards and is a staunch advocate for advancement of women in medicine having served as President of the Women Faculty School of Medicine of Case School of Medicine. She has been an invited author of chapters in premiere textbooks in Sleep Medicine (Principles and Practice of Sleep Medicine, Kryger and Dement, eds.), Pulmonary Medicine (Murray and Nadel’s Textbook of Respiratory Medicine),  and Cardiology (Hurst’s the Heart), sole author of Up to Date: Obstructive sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease in adults for the last 7 years and she is an editor of the published textbook Sleep Disorders: A Case a Week from the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Mehra has over 200 publications (H-index=49) including in the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA journals and has delivered >300 lectures nationally and internationally.
