Rajan T. Gupta, MD, is the Chief of the Abdominal Imaging at Duke University Medical Center and holds the rank of Associate Professor of Radiology with tenure. He has also been awarded a dual appointment in the Duke Department of Surgery based on his work with colleagues in Duke Urology and holds the secondary titles of Associate Professor of Surgery and faculty in the Duke Cancer Institute. Dr. Gupta has authored/coauthored over 100 peer-reviewed publications on topics ranging from imaging with hepatobiliary specific MR contrast agents to multiparametric prostate MRI. He has given 100+ invited lectures across the United States and internationally and has also been a co-investigator on two NIH R01 grants with Duke Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Gupta also serves as the Director of Imaging for the Duke Cancer Institute Center for Prostate & Urologic Cancers. This position oversees and supports emerging imaging modalities and techniques that assist in furthering research and clinical care. Dr. Gupta leads the team in fostering collaborations across nuclear and radiologic imaging at Duke, while partnering with other investigators to further develop image-guided therapeutics. He will also continue to develop rising stars in the imaging field through mentorship.
