Deedwania, MD, FACC, FAHA, FCCP, FACP, is one of the most recognizable figures in the fields of Diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, lipid disorders, ischemic heart disease, rhythm disorders, and preventive cardiology. He is Professor of medicine at the University of California–San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine and Director, Heart Failure Program at UCSF Program in Fresno, California, USA. Dr. Deedwania is also Director of cardiovascular research for the UCSF Fresno–Central San Joaquin Valley Medical Education Program and Clinical Professor of medicine at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, USA.
Dr. Deedwania is a fellow of the American Heart Association (AHA), the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), and the American College of Physicians (ACP), American Society of Hypertension, American College of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, and a member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the American Federation of Clinical Research (AFCR), the Council on Silent Myocardial Ischemia and Infarction, the International Society of Ambulatory Science, and the New York Trudeau Society. He has served as Chair of the Executive Committee of the Laennec Society of the AHA, and he is currently president of the California Chapter of the American Society of Hypertension. Dr. Deedwania is past president of the International Society for Holter and Noninvasive Electrocardiology (ISHNE). He has also served as a member of several writing groups, including the ACC/AHA Practice Guidelines on Chronic Stable Angina and Ambulatory ECG Monitoring. He also served for 6 years on the Heart Failure Guideline Committee of Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA). He recently served on the joint writing group of AHA/ADA/ACC for the position statement on cardiovascular risk reduction in patients with diabetes.He currently serves on the ACC National Prevention Committee and AHA National Diabetes committees.
Dr. Deedwania has authored numerous landmark clinical trials and has authored or co-authored more than 350 publications, including original research articles in well referenced journals like NEJM,JAMA, Lancet, Circulation, JACC, AJC, AHJ, Am J of Medicine , and many other International Journals. He has also edited 12 books & authored numerous articles in books,& Review journals etc. Dr. Deedwania also serves on the editorial boards of numerous journals. He is an associate editor of Annals of Noninvasive Cardiology and senior editor of Global Heart, the journal of World Heart Federation. He has served as guest editor for Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Deedwania lectures regularly both nationally and internationally.
