Peter Rechmann DMD, PhD, Prof. Dr. med. dent.

Peter Rechmann, DMD, PhD, Prof. Dr. med. dent., is Professor Emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco, Division of Prosthodontics, Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences. He was Director of the Clinical Sciences Research Group. He has been involved in clinical research for more than 42 years. His clinical research related to caries prevention including the application of new oral care products, laser/light-based diagnostic tools, and new delivery systems for caries prevention.  Dr. Rechmann has also been involved in laboratory and clinical research dealing with lasers in dentistry for more than 40 years. In collaboration with the California Dental Association, he established a Practice Based Research Network in the San Francisco Bay Area. With this network of 30 dentists, he has run a CAMBRA – Caries Management by Risk Assessment - prospective, double blind, randomized clinical trial with a control and an active intervention group. Dr. Rechmann was successfully funded by Industry Grants and has published over 160 papers and book chapters.
