Originally trained as a rheumatologist, Peter K. Gregersen has been working in the area of human genetics for over three decades. He has led several major international consortia to study the genetics of rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus, myasthenia gravis, myositis and other autoimmune diseases, leading to the identification of nearly 100 genetic associations with rheumatoid arthritis and related autoimmune disorders. Most recently, Dr. Gregersen has focused on understanding the genetics and pathogenesis of endometriosis.
