Peter B. Bach, M.D., a senior adviser at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services from 2005 to 2006, is the director of the Center for Health Policy and Outcomes at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Bach’s main research interests cover healthcare policy, particularly as it relates to Medicare, racial disparities in cancer care quality and lung cancer epidemiology. He has led several evidence based practice guideline efforts on lung cancer screening including most recently, a multi-society collaboration between the ACCP, ACS, ASCO and NCCN. Along with publishing in the medical literature, Dr. Bach’s opinion pieces have appeared in numerous lay new outlets, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes Online and National Public Radio.
