Nazia Raja-Khan MD, MS
Associate Professor of Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Psychiatry & Behavioral Health, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Penn State College of Medicine, Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PADr. Nazia Raja-Khan is an endocrinologist and an Associate Professor at Penn State College of Medicine. As a physician scientist, Dr. Raja-Khan maintains an active research program focused on innovative approaches to the prevention and treatment of diabetes. Her research is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Dr. Raja-Khan currently serves as the Principal Investigator of a randomized controlled trial of a mindfulness-based intervention to improve glycemic control in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. As Principal Investigator, she is also overseeing an electronic health record-based retrospective study to determine the incidence, severity, and risk factors for new-onset diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis in patients with COVID-19.
Dr. Raja-Khan serves as co-investigator in two ongoing NIH-funded consortiums, the Type 1 Diabetes in Acute Pancreatitis Consortium (T1DAPC) and the Impaired Awareness of Hypoglycemia (IAH) Consortium. She is leading stakeholder engagement across national and international clinical centers in the IAH Consortium.
Dr. Raja-Khan received her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She completed Internal Medicine residency training at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, New York. She earned her MS in Health Evaluation Sciences in the Penn State K30 Clinical Research Training Program while completing endocrinology fellowship training at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
