Michael J. Krowka MD
Professor of Medicine and Director, Mayo Clinic Transplant Research Center, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MinnesotaDr Krowka received his MD at the University of Nevada, Reno in 1980 with a subsequent internal medicine residency at Northwestern University and pulmonary subspecialty training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. He joined the staff of the Mayo Clinic in 1986. He holds joint appointments with the Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine and the Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology.
His clinical research involves the pulmonary vascular complications of liver disease, namely the hepatopulmonary syndrome and portopulmonary hypertension, publishing over 100 peer-reviewed articles in that area. He chaired the working group that developed and published the International Liver Transplant Society practice guidelines for hepatopulmonary syndrome and portopulmonary hypertension in 2016.
