Medical Director of the Charlotte Continence Center at Carolinas Medical Center, Director of Urology at Carolinas Rehabilitation Hospital, and Co-Director of the Women’s Center for Pelvic Health, Chapel Hill, NC

Michael Kennelly, MD holds various faculty teaching positions in the Departments of Urology and Gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center and University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. He is Medical Director of the Charlotte Continence Center at Carolinas Medical Center, Director of Urology at Carolinas Rehabilitation Hospital, and Co-Director of the Women’s Center for Pelvic Health. In addition, he is Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology at University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

Dr. Kennelly is a Diplomat of The American Board of Urology with certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also a member of more than 15 professional organizations and holds several leadership positions. He is the Past President of the American Spinal Injury Association, Board of Director member of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, Vice President of the American Paraplegic Society and recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Society of Urodynamics and Female Urology.

Listed in Americas Top Doctors for 13 consecutive years (2002-2015), Dr. Kennelly’s clinical, educational, and academic expertise is in male and female voiding dysfunction, neurogenic bladder, and complex lower urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstruction, and he has been principal investigator in numerous clinical trials on these topics. Dr. Kennelly has authored or coauthored several journal articles, book chapters, and educational videos in the areas of urinary incontinence and neurourology and has lectured extensively on these topics.
