Matthew A. Ciorba MD

Assistant Professor of Medicine; Faculty Member, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri

Dr. Matthew Ciorba is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and faculty member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at Washington University in St Louis.  He is an AOA graduate of the University of Iowa's Carver College of Medicine and subsequently completed Internal Medicine Residency, a Chief Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship training at Washington University and Barnes Jewish Hospital. Further IBD fellowship training was gained from the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Dr Ciorba’s clinical practice and research activities are both centered on the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and the application of Probiotic and Microbiota based therapies in intestinal disorders.  His research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, the CCFA and The Global Probiotics Council.  Most recently Dr Ciorba was named the CCFA Mid America Chapter Distinguished Gastroenterologist and serves as President of the Chapter’s Medical Advisory Committee.
