Massimo Torreggiani, MD, PhD, graduated in medicine at the university of Pavia, Italy, in 2006. In 2007, he moved to New York for a PostDoc fellowship at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in the Department of Geriatrics, Division of Experimental Diabetes and Aging, under the supervision of Prof. Helen Vlassara and Prof. Gary E. Striker. He got his PhD in Internal Medicine and Medical Therapeutics at the university of Pavia in 2010. He specialized in nephrology in 2015 under the supervision of Prof. Ciro Esposito.

Since 2020, he is the coordinator of the dialysis unit of the Centre Hospitalier Le Mans, France, in the Nephrology unit directed by Prof. Giorgina Barbara Piccoli.

His main research interests are hemodialysis, chronic kidney disease, nutritional therapy in CKD and pregnancy and the kidney. He is first author or co-author of more than 80 peer-reviewed articles mainly published in nephrology journals and serves as an editorial board member of several nephrology journals.
