Professor, University of California at San Francisco; Dermatologist and Clinical Epidemiologist

Dr. Chren is  a dermatologist and clinical epidemiologist; her research group has focused on understanding, measuring, and comparing health outcomes of skin diseases such as basal cell carcinoma and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, also called nonmelanoma skin cancer.  They have conducted a 12-year-old prospective longitudinal study of a consecutive cohort of patients newly-diagnosed with these tumors in San Francisco.  In this VA- and NIH-funded study, they have collected high-fidelity clinical data on many patient, tumor, and treatment characteristics to compare patient-reported and clinical outcomes after treatments.
