Mark Barakat, MD received his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Duke University and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed residency training as chief resident at Hahnemann University, followed by retina fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.  He is a retinal surgeon at Retinal Consultants of Arizona, Director of the Retinal Research Institute, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Dr. Barakat has published and presented a spectrum of retina research at national meetings, ranging from basic science to the clinical. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists.
