María I. Gaitán MD

Gaitán is staff clinician at the Department of Neurology, at the Institute for Neurological Research Dr Raúl Carrea (FLENI), Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dr. Gaitán received her medical degree with honors at the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine. She completed her residency in neurology and was appointed Chief Resident at FLENI. She continued her training as a postdoctoral fellow at the Neuroimmunology branch, Translational Neuroradiology Unit, NINDS, NIH, Bethesda, USA.
Dr. Gaitán's main participation is in research, mostly focused on understanding the inflammatory process underlying MS using non-invasive MRI, as well as participating in MS clinical trials. Dr Gaitán is in charge of the inpatients of the neuroimmunology section and provides outpatient care for the MS clinic. She is deeply involved in education, teaching fellows, residents, and medical students of the UBA.
