Lori A. Birder PhD
Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology/Chemical Biology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, PennsylvaniaLori Birder, PhD is a Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology/Chemical Biology (with tenure) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Birder completed her PhD in Neuropharmacology at the University of Pittsburgh and Postdoctoral Fellowships in Physiology at Showa University, Tokyo Japan and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Birder’s research has focused on the physiology and pharmacology of the LUT in health and disease with a focus on stress/pain and aging. She has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and reviews. Dr. Birder has organized/chaired a number of symposia and workshops on bladder and urothelial function and is a member of several scientific/editorial boards and scientific societies including SUFU, ICS, INUS, ESSIC and the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).
