Linda R. Duska MD, MPH
Lawrence Penniston Family Endowed Professor of Women’s Oncology Research; Vice-Chair for Research, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Associate Dean for Clinical Research; Professor, Gynecologic Oncology, Emily Couric Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville, VirginiaDr. Duska is a Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She oversees the clinical research program in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and co-chairs the Developmental Therapeutics group in the Cancer Center. Dr. Duska also serves as the Associate Dean for Clinical Research for the School of Medicine. In this role she is responsible for the oversight of clinical research infrastructure for the SOM, oversees the Clinical Trials Office for the SOM, and works with leadership to bring clinical trials to the community.
She received her MD from New York University in 1991, graduating AOA. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Johns Hopkins in 1995 and went on to complete her fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital in 1995. She stayed on as faculty at MGH until 2008, rising to the rank of Associate Professor at Harvard University. She relocated to Charlottesville in 2008 to serve as the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship director and has remained on faculty since then.
Nationally she has served multiple leadership roles at the NCI, currently serving as the co-chair of the Gynecologic Cancer Steering Committee (GCSC). She serves NRG as a member of the uterine corpus committee and the Phase I committee. Her interests are focused on all aspects of clinical research, including clinical trialist mentorship in gynecologic cancers. She also has an ongoing research project focused on increasing accrual of rural and low socioeconomic patients to clinical trials by addressing both patient and provider biases.
Dr. Duska has authored over 160 manuscripts, 26 book chapters and multiple invited editorials. She has raised four adult children and currently lives with her husband Chris and their 3 golden retrievers in Charlottesville, Virginia.
