Dr. Collen’s clinical and research interests lie in the care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with special interest in understanding and treating patients with very early onset IBD (VEOIBD) and those with disease that has been refractory to conventional therapies. Dr. Collen completed an Advanced Fellowship in Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Boston Children’s Hospital and is a recipient of a Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Research Fellows Award, the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) IBD Young Investigator Award, and the NASPGHAN Young Faculty Investigator Award. Her research interests are in understanding the underlying pathways that drive disease in her IBD patients with the ultimate goal of advancing options for personalized medicine. She has special interest in the role of STAT3 activation defects in IBD.
