LaTonia Richardson is a Statistician/Health Data Scientist in the Office of Director, Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). LaTonia leads multiple data science activities at CDC, including mentoring student fellows in the development of automated data analysis and visualization tools. She also leads multiple data analyses highlighting the latest cardiovascular disease statistics from publicly available CDC and American Heart Association data sources.

LaTonia has over 15 years of experience managing and analyzing federal data systems. She holds a PhD in Public Health and received a Masters of Science in Biostatistics from Georgia State University. LaTonia served as the 2021-2022 Chair of CDC’s Statistical Advisory Group (SAG) and received a 2023 SAG Career Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Statistical Community. She has provided statistical advice for two major CDC journals, Emerging Infectious Diseases and Preventing Chronic Disease. Her research interests pertain to the integration of statistics, informatics, and technology for improving the efficiency of epidemiological analyses.
