Kristina Utzschneider, MD, is a board-certified endocrinologist and Director of Diabetes Care at the VA Puget Sound and an Associate Professor of Medicine and Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition at the University of Washington. She earned her M.D. from Harvard and completed internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at the University of Washington. She is a clinical researcher focused on the pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes. Her research has explored how beta-cell function relates to risk of progression and the effects of medications and diet on insulin sensitivity and beta-cell function.
