Dr. Kevin Damman (MD, PhD) studied medicine at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. As a student he developed a passion for cardiology and clinical science. After graduating in 2005, he was awarded his PhD in April 2009 with his dissertation: “Cardiorenal interaction in heart failure”. In this thesis, the pathophysiology of combined cardiorenal failure, including the new concepts of increased central venous pressure and tubular damage, was studied. Currently, he is in his clinical cardiologist training programme, completion due in 2015. He is associate editor of the European Journal of Heart Failure and was awarded a European Society of Cardiology Heart Failure Research Grant in 2013.
