Associate Adjunct Professor of Urology, University of California, San Francisco, CA

Dr. Katsuto Shinohara specializes in urologic cancers, in particular prostate cancer. He has a special interest in innovative biopsy techniques and image-guided minimally invasive treatments for prostate cancer as well as applying ultrasound techniques in the diagnosis, management and treatment of all urologic cancers.

Dr. Shinohara earned a medical degree from Yokohama City University, School of Medicine in Yokohama, Japan. Subsequently, he completed a residency in general surgery at Mitsui Memorial Hospital in Tokyo, Japan and a residency in urology at Kitasato University Hospital in Sagamihara, Japan. He then completed a fellowship in urological oncology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Japanese Urological Association, Japanese Society of Medical Ultrasonics, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, American Urological Association, American Urological Association and Society of Urology and Engineering. He has lectured widely on urologic cancer and his work has been published in numerous medical and scientific journals. He is an associate adjunct professor of urology at the University of California, San Francisco.
