Professor Juliana Chan is Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics and Director, Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prince of Wales Hospital. She is a physician scientist specialised in diabetes and clinical pharmacology. Since 1995, she led a multidisciplinary team to establish the Hong Kong Diabetes Register as a data-driven quality improvement program, accompanied by a biobank for multiomic analysis in pursuit of precision medicine. In 2007, her team designed the web-based Joint Asia Diabetes Evaluation (JADE) Technology to promote data-driven personalised care and collaborative research in Asia. Professor Chan has published 500 original articles and 20 book chapters. She is a committee member of international landmark studies and Hong Kong Government research and healthcare policies related to diabetes and non-communicable diseases. She is a recipient of the American Diabetes Association Harold Rifkin Award for Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes and leads The Lancet Commission Report on Diabetes advocating the use of data to transform diabetes prevention and care.
