Cardiovascular Diseases Fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MNJorge A. Brenes-Salazar received his MD degree from Universidad de Ciencias Medicas in Costa Rica, and went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where he was a recipient of multiple recognitions and awards, which include amongst others being the first resident physician to be inducted as a member of the Alpha-Omega-Alpha Society in Minnesota (in more than 100 years of existence of this chapter) and is currently completing his Cardiovascular Diseases fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, with additional training in Geriatric Medicine. Throughout his Mayo experience, he has increasingly contributed to the field of clinical cardiology, in general, and cardiovascular care of older adults in particular. He was a recipient of the ACC Geriatric Cardiology Travel Award in 2013 and is currently serving as Co-chair at a national level for the ACC Geriatric Cardiology Section Work Force for Fellows in Training and Early Career Professionals.
