Dr. Serra is the actual chief of the Neurogastroenterology and Motility Section of the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron, he is the President of the Spanish Association of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ASENEM), member of the Steering Committee of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ESNM), and member of the Quality of Care Committee of the United European Gastroenterology (UEG). His research has focused on functional gut disorders, with special interest in the role of intestinal gas in the development of abdominal symptoms in patients with IBS and abdominal distension.
