John Pearce PhD

Adjunct lecturer, John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia.

Dr. John Pearce (PhD) is an optometrist in clinical practice in a regional area of NSW, Australia, and is affiliated with the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. He completed his PhD at ANU on progression detection methods using visual fields and OCT in glaucoma. Having to treat a wide variety of anterior ocular pathology in clinical practice has stimulated his interest in determining appropriate evidence-based treatment protocols for bacterial keratitis using the commercially available fluoroquinolones ciprofloxacin 0.3% and ofloxacin 0.3%. He has recently been the lead author of two papers in this area which have demonstrated a need for better evidence-based guidelines and clinical practice protocols in this area.
